July 2012 Glyph Sales

I've been been busy stockpiling glyphs for MoP, hanging out at The Consortium Forums and ... well generating coin of course. Here are the stats for glyphs in July.

  • Total Glyph Sales:  58030g
  • Total Glyphs Sold: 1472
  • Average Price:  39g42s
While I'm selling even more glyphs, the biggest hit was the price per glyphs - 10g less than last month on average. There has been a marked increase in competition as the expansion grows closer, and a lot of new leveling scribes. More recently I have also been actively buying out the cheap glyphs to reset the market price, and noticing that some of my competitors thresholds are reasonably high. When all it takes to reset a glyph to my fallback is buy out one glyph, and cancel three of my own, it really makes me appreciate being prepared to sell glyphs closer to the cost price than my competitors.

Since I've got all my data in a database, it's much easier to start looking at the longer term trends for my sales in the glyph market, so I'll leave you with a graphical representation of my glyph stats since I started recording them.

The big pie chart of sales by category is coming soon... but if you have any requests for data and analysis from my 18 months of sales data... hit me up here or on twitter, and I'll include that in a future post!

* If you can spot the error in the graphs... shhhhh... you only get an prize (a retweet of your brilliance counts, right?) if you can figure out what the correction would be.

    1. Well spotted. My data should begin with Feb, not Jan... which I didn't notice since I forgot April.

Does give me impetus to grab my graphs directly from my database, which will be phase ??? of my project.

  2. I too have noticed some really stiff newish competition in my server's glyph market this close to the expansion. Why do you think that is?

    1. I know a couple of people on my server that have gotten back into the glyph market purely because it's the end of the expansion. Things are winding down and they are looking to make some coin for MoP.

There are also some crazy kids leveling multiple scribes due to the cooldown introduced for inscription in MoP, so I've been able to reset a LOT of trainer glyphs recently.
