Like it's 2012 now and MoP just went live.
I was selling glyphs myself on busy high pop EU server for all June (and May), every single day. Most profit i'd get was ~3k /day and that with undercutting EVERY SINGLE HOUR with the help of tsm plugins. If you don't undercut every hour you're out of business and you won't sell a single glyph these days - simple as that. On usual day it was only about 1.5k, because of low demand and severe undercutting where glyphs which just yesterday were selling for 100-150g are now being posted for 10g each.
200k that's close to cumulative monthly sales on all glyphs for entire server. Stop bullshitting people, dude.
It's pretty convincing articles if you're don't know about real situation at the moment. One of my huge pet ...That is an excellent question! One of my huge pet peeves for gold blogers is the sloppy use of 'You can make XYZ gold per hour!' I like to see some rigour applied when people use numbers.

A good example is you can get blah gold per hour from running this dungeon. What they mean to say is, I predict that you can obtain, on average, this value of gold and items per hour. I'm yet to see a blogger add up the time it takes to actually offload that gear, take into account failed auctions (and therefore the AH cut) and just how long it takes to sell some of those old, potentially useful transmog items. It makes me cringe.

It is probably worth mentioning my wife's pet peeve too. XYZ gold per hour suggests that it is repeatable. Bloggers rarely point out how often it is viable to run their scheme before you hit severe diminishing returns. Back to the example of old content. Sure, that cloth will always sell... but until you've sold all those epics, getting more is just costing you inventory space.

That is my long winded way of saying, I have absolutely NO idea, but I 'feel' like it is efficient.

So, perhaps for July, I'll add another experiment to see how much time it takes to go through the glyph making and selling process. Or maybe I won't, because that seems like an awful lot of work ;) Also, now that I'm into my experiment of only posting once every ~52 hours (on average) it changes the nature of my schedule (and time commitment quite a bit.

The most complex part is that glyph selling is a bulk business. For May, I couldn't keep up with making glyphs... so even if I logged my active time with the glyph business in May, the time I spent in May is completely skewed, since I'm selling glyphs that were already made in previous months, and not crafting enough to replace them all.

Another issue is that when I buy herbs, some of them are for potions / flasks etc. and some of them get milled. How do you allocate the time? (I generally purchase at least once per day with my morning coffee).

Lastly, what constitutes 'actively at your computer'? You can AFK collect your mail without breaking the terms of service. However, when you mill or craft it requires one key press for each action. So I have a little warcraft window open in the bottom right hand side of my TV, and while we're watching something entertaining I'll be pressing the 'mill this' keybind over and over again. Multitasking! Is that really active? On the other hand, if I hit, 'post my glyphs' and then alt-tab to twitter while it scans 100 pages of the auction house... I'm not actively selling glyphs... but I'm not exactly using that time to do something productive either.

So I'll give it some thought and see if I can some up with some numbers for this month.

P.S. Bonus caveat time! One of the reasons my glyph business is so profitable is because I have the vast majority of glyphs learned. If I was to suggest someone new to inscription sell glyphs because it's an awesome way to make gold (it is!) I wouldn't shy away from describing just how long it takes to learn them all! That is an investment a lot of people take for granted.Twitchiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02391189902558554974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8116440969257295826.post-60193049965355747862014-07-01T23:20:10.627+10:002014-07-01T23:20:10.627+10:00How much time do you think you spend actively at y...How much time do you think you spend actively at your computer while bringing in that kind of gold?

Just curious!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12274281472444243143noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8116440969257295826.post-5340939890925478822014-05-14T09:44:04.101+10:002014-05-14T09:44:04.101+10:00Thanks Jim :)Thanks Jim :)Twitchiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02391189902558554974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8116440969257295826.post-84814117859255207082014-05-14T07:50:48.646+10:002014-05-14T07:50:48.646+10:00Mimiron's Head from the black market auction h...Mimiron's Head from the black market auction house for 750k.

http://twitchieenterprises.blogspot.com.au/2013/01/2m-gold-spent-since-gold-cap.htmlTwitchiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02391189902558554974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8116440969257295826.post-48537711776837682952014-05-14T05:52:48.674+10:002014-05-14T05:52:48.674+10:00What did you buy on December 1st, 2012?What did you buy on December 1st, 2012?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17209419012755498382noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8116440969257295826.post-73457389422238989492014-05-13T10:16:45.659+10:002014-05-13T10:16:45.659+10:00Congrats on 4M Twitchie!Congrats on 4M Twitchie!iiimjiiimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03057369867933781407noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8116440969257295826.post-85226880425229150082014-04-02T19:46:23.068+11:002014-04-02T19:46:23.068+11:00I would have to agree I also post around 700 glyph...I would have to agree I also post around 700 glyphs a day and I might do a cancel scan once in a 24 bit time period because it takes at least 1 hour of my time to cancel and repost I think my competition feels the same way and I always post is stacks of 2 some glyphs I will have upto 4 or 5 so play the game and check on your glyphs every now and then that way you don't get burned out. So ...I enjoy goldmaking the way some enjoy raiding. So rather than spending 5 hours wiping on bosses, I spend the same amount of time making gold. Selling glyphs is like printing money compared to crafting and more reliable. non gem/enchant crafters typically get impatient and end up dumping their items at below cost ruining most markets. Glyphs cost 15g each to make and so its hard to lose your shirt on them. I think most people who gold cap have been primarily glyph makers. I had long term success with Engineering and all bag sales since the beginning of pandaria but you can only sell so many tinker gears and mammoth mining bags in a week.

Despite all the advice on glyph posting techniques, the only way to sell is to camp your AH and relist every time you are undercut. I am on a large Horde server with a dozen big glyph sellers and if you are off-line for more than 2 hours you have been completely undercut on every glyph. On weekdays just camp the AH from 6pm-11pm and on weekends start at noon and camp till midnight. If you do that you can pull in revenue of about 5K a weekday and 30-40K on a weekend.Scuggerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00331341805101112855noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8116440969257295826.post-33502062413624520672014-03-18T19:43:46.333+11:002014-03-18T19:43:46.333+11:00Hey hey, I finally got around to answering your qu...Hey hey, I finally got around to answering your question.

Glyph Multi Posting and Sale ConversionTwitchiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02391189902558554974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8116440969257295826.post-63188912578293160542014-03-01T09:58:07.073+11:002014-03-01T09:58:07.073+11:00I will probably hop on the beta. I should...Inscription is a large source of revenue. I should have some posts soon on the breakdown of how much coin comes in from various markets. To give you an idea (purely as revenue) I bring in at least twice that in consumable sales, about the same in gems. Then armor, weapons, darkmoon cards (not insignificant as its own category), trade goods, pets, recipes, bags etc all fall off from there.

My advice is pick a market, and explore it. Once it is set up and you are happy with the return on investment (both gold and time), pick another. I happily maintain a lot of markets in a very lazy fashion, but that isn't for everyone. I can't remember the last time I stocked up on ghost iron dragonlings... but I'll make some more at some point ;)

If you are using TSM2, you can set up your crafting module to give you great reminders when you need to restock.Twitchiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02391189902558554974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8116440969257295826.post-57842084508757112552014-01-23T10:15:46.725+11:002014-01-23T10:15:46.725+11:00Is inscription your main source of income? or do y...Is inscription your main source of income? or do you use other professions as well. However, TSM 2 makes it very easy to restock every profitable glyph. With over 400 glyphs in game, that takes quite a bit of storage, and I use 3 characters to post (many glyphers use more (ideally I would too, but my alts have other storage requirements)).

So in short, TSM2 helps me restock glyphs based on both cost and demand. I only craft profitable glyphs (cost). I have a stockpile of up to 20 of each glyphs, so if one is in higher demand, next time I bulk craft (I make 500+ glyphs in a sitting) I just make more of that glyph (demand).

I post two of every profitable glyph for 48 hours, and post on average only once per day. Sometimes twice, and sometimes not at all (like yesterday, and many days in early December). I don't bark in trade about glyphs at all (but I do about Four Senses Brew).

I absolutely get undercut. There's a fairly active glyphing community on my server. However, since I only post once per day it does take quite a while for me to undercut them back. I have, on occasion, seen a competitor log on... wait for them to log off and then post.

I think the most important thing with the glyph market is efficiency.
- Buying herbs quickly
- Buying herbs cheaply
- Milling herbs efficiently
- Doing something productive AFK while you create aaaaalllll the inks
- Restocking efficiently
- Storing glyphs effectively
- Posting glyphs and collecting them from the mailbox efficiently

Getting that production line from herb to glyph sale working well is often secondary the end price of the glyph (assuming it's always sold at a profit).Twitchiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02391189902558554974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8116440969257295826.post-53359922080378278932014-01-23T04:45:55.519+11:002014-01-23T04:45:55.519+11:00I'm fairly new to the glyph game. It's a point of pride for me to strive to keep every piece of every spec of the 8-piece ilvl 384 sets available on the AH at all times. It was hard for me to get geared up for Pandaria when I reached 85 (not enough on the AH and I didn't know about the green armor vendors); I want to help keep our medium-pop server vibrant by making sure any new 85 doesn't quit or transfer servers for not having an easy option for getting appropriate gear. The pieces I sell are slightly better than the green vendor gear, at a slightly lower price - win-win! Yes it costs a lot in listing fees and a lot comes back to my inbox, but as long as my overall bank balance keeps going up I figure I must be doing something right.

Bags, especially farming collection bags are another thing that improves the quality of life for a toon, and thus helps keep the server activity flowing. There's no 20-slot vendor herb bag available on Horde side, ya know! I try to make up the gap on the AH. Lowest price n-weave bags 50g apiece? - I don't think so! As long as there's n-weave to buy on the AH (priced low enough that I don't actually LOSE money in the process) I whip up a bunch and post them for 20g. If someone comes along in an hour and posts a bunch for 19g 99s 99c, or 15g, or 12g, I don't care. If mine don't sell it just saves me the hassle of crafting more! I have plenty of gold that I can throw a few g's in lost listing fees toward keeping my server market humming without it bothering me a bit. Busting up a stagnant market is priceless when it is a product like bags, so vital for toons who are just trying to go about their daily business on Azeroth.

As a single human being (even with an army of alts and a couple of slick addons) it's just not possible for me to keep every crafted item from every profession over a span of 90 levels in stock on the AH at all times (and even if I could I'd probably go broke doing it). But I pick a couple of niches that I feel are "important" and try to keep them in continuous stock as a public service, in addition to the stuff I generally list with the specific goal of making gold.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
